APG Portfolio Exhibition

My work from the Unmasked project (installation shots below) was selected for the APG Portfolio Exhibition in Atlanta. It is APG's "most prestigious annual exhibition, culled from entries submitted from around the world." Andy Adams from Flak Photo was the juror. I enjoyed meeting everyone at the opening and getting to know some of the other artists and the juror. It was a pleasure to work with Beth Lily, the APG Executive Director. The evening ended with a long but inconclusive discussion about the future of photography!

Felicia Feaster from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reviewed the exhibition, which you can read here.

Love Wins

Here are a few photos from my Love Is Everyday series to celebrate today's historic decision by the US Supreme Court to uphold the Constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

A friend explained the importance of today's decision eloquently: "Growing up, threatened and hiding, I could never imagine living to see this day."

Justice Kennedy concluded the majority decision with this: “No longer may this liberty be denied. No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.”

More photos from the series appeared in Cite Magazine's blog:

Margaret Thatcher's Funeral

I happened to be in London during Margaret Thatcher's funeral, having arrived the night before she passed away. From my earliest memory, she was the Prime Minister of U.K. although much of what I remember was from watching Spitting Image on TV, reading her book Statecraft: Strategies for a Changing World and recently watching The Iron Lady. I took the opportunity to get a few photos of the event since it promised to have the grandeur generally reserved for Royalty.
