Travel to New Delhi

My flight to New Delhi was uneventful. I traveled through London and Dubai. The change in airline from Delta to Emirates was very noticeable. There was about 5 inches more legroom, which doesn’t sound like a lot but really is on a 9 hour flight. There were “500 channels” on the in-flight entertainment system, all with pause, forward, backward actions like a DVR. Finally, the food was leaps and bounds better – including a menu to choose from. My dinner started with an appetizer of smoked salmon with Waldorf salad, followed by sautéed lamb medallions with garden vegetables for the entrée, and closed with a raspberry and chocolate mousse torte with fine Darjeeling tea. In Dubai, when my flight to Delhi was delayed by a few hours, they provided another similar meal at the airport. Once I arrived at the hotel from the airport, they did not have the room a reserved, so I was upgraded to the executive suite for the same rate – it had a living room, a dining room, two bathrooms, and my private butler. It was nice to live in style for a change. It reminded me of my one year stay at the Four Seasons in Houston. I had just enough time to shower and change to head to the team event.
