Thanksgiving Dinner 2006

The family got together for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Masud’s. We had hoped to have Wanda Mami for Thanksgiving from Cambridge while Boro Mama is visiting Japan for a conference. But she was not well and could not come. We went over “after breakfast” (around 1:30 PM), and spent the rest of the day there. The kids had a blast playing together. It was probably the first time that all 5 played together, albeit for a short while. At last years Thanksgiving, we had talked about how in 2006 it will be a zoo because there will be 5 kids running around instead of 2 (since A and W were still not walking). And so it was.

Masud set out an incredible nine course meal. Course by course pictures are in my album, and here’s the menu (see picture):

Cantaloupe soup with basil and olive oil sorbet
Tandoor grilled scallops with baby zucchini and balsamic reduction

Tomato gazpacho with tomato sorbet
Pan fried striped bass with salsify salad

Rotisserie Cornish hens
    Chestnut stuffing
    Cranberry relish
Stir fried acorn squash with red peppercorns

Watermelon soup with gooseberries
Rose petal ice cream in coconut saffron sauce
Saffron poached pears (with stilton)
Cheese and fruit plate

The food tasted at least as good as it looked. We relished dinner for over 5 hours. I have to say it was the sybaritic experience of the year for me.
