Visiting the Café

With A’s pneumonia and croup, the doctor recommended we not take her out of the house in the next few weeks with the temperatures being in the 30’s (Fahrenheit). So I have been taking N to and from school. Today, taking the opportunity that I may not easily get again, I took her to a café close by for hot chocolate and chatting, and the ambiance. Once we got there, N preferred the ice cream over the hot chocolate – it looked much more enticing and colorful. I liked her approach – she looked at everything behind the glass display before deciding what she would have. We chatted about various things, mostly school, while she finished her ice cream and I sipped my mocha. Interestingly, N wanted to save the ice cream scoop – she wrapped it in a napkin and brought it along. I didn’t think to ask why. On the way back, we picked up some hot dogs that N was in the mood for.
